Peach, Blackberry & Basil Smoothie
Where are my smoothie gals at? I’ve got a new recipe to share with you today that incorporates some of my favorite summer fruits and a surprise ingredient: basil. I adore basil, and it is a simple herb to grow right outside your door or to purchase at the grocery store if gardening is not your thing. Also, being from the South, peaches are in season, and I love that this recipe gives you a fresh new way to use peaches instead of saving them for a cobbler (which isn’t the worst idea!)
This recipe is healthy and perfect for an on-the-go breakfast or snack. The peaches and blackberries are a great source of vitamins and antioxidants, while the basil provides a boost of energy. Finishing it off with coconut milk and collagen protein gives you a well-rounded meal with healthy fats and protein. Not to mention, this smoothie is incredibly easy to make. Simply add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth!
What about substitutions? That’s one of the great things about smoothies, you can change out virtually ANY ingredient to create a new recipe. For the collagen powder, you can substitute any other protein powder in its place, but I believe that a vanilla flavor would complement this recipe best. For the coconut milk, any milk or milk alternative will work, but I would caution you to choose unsweetened versions as the smoothie will have enough sweetness from the fruit.
